Pablo Picasso "Femme assise sur la plage" -- 1937 - Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon

Pour Picasso, l'année 1937 est celle de Guernica (Madrid, centre d'art Reine Sophie) exécuté en juin pour le pavillon espagnol de l'Exposition internationale. C'est aussi l'année d'autres expérimentations. Il reprend ainsi, en février, le thème des baigneuses, déjà développé à la fin des années 1920. Thème qu'il déclinera uniquement en sculptures peu après. Au lieu de jouer à la balle ou de sauter dans les airs, les baigneuses sont désormais repliées sur elles-mêmes, leurs corps s'inscrivant dans un ovale. Cette série est encore inspirée par la figure de Marie-Thérèse Walter, muse et compagne omniprésente dans l'œuvre des années 1930, alors que Picasso commence à vivre avec Dora Maar.

Le tableau présente une baigneuse nue sur une plage se livrant à un geste familier. L'exagération des volumes et le rejet de toute vraisemblance anatomique sont frappants : les pieds et les mains sont disproportionnés par rapport au visage impersonnel. Les contours tracés au fusain donnent encore plus de densité au corps, alors que le modelé est souligné par le pastel blanc. La frontalité appuyée du personnage fait ressortir l'espace en arrière-plan comme une simple toile de fond. Un dessin à l'encre de chine (Paris, musée Picasso), daté lui aussi du 10 février, révèle que l'artiste a rapidement esquissé la composition. La baignade (Venise, collection Peggy Guggenheim), exécuté deux jours plus tard, reprend la figure – associée à une autre baigneuse – tenant un petit bateau à voiles.

 

 

For Picasso, year 1937 is the one of Guernica (Madrid, center of art Queen Sophie) executed in June for the Spanish detached house of the international Exhibition. It is also the year of the other experiments. He so takes back, in February, the subject of the swimmers, already developed in the end of 1920s. Subject which he will decline only in sculptures a bit further. Instead of playing the ball or jumping into the airs, the swimmers are henceforth folded up on themselves, their bodies joining an oval. This series is still inspired by Marie Thérèse Walter's face, muse and omnipresent partner in the work of the 1930s, while Picasso begins to live with Dora Maar.
The picture presents a bare swimmer on a beach being engaged in a familiar gesture. The exaggeration of the volumes and the refusal of any anatomical credibility are striking : feet and hands are disproportionate with regard to the impersonal face. Outlines drawn in the charcoal look some more of density to the body, while the relief is underlined by the white pastel. The frontality rested by the character highlights the space in background as a simple backcloth. A drawing in the Indian ink (Paris, Picasso museum), dated too of February 10th, reveals that the artist quickly sketched the composition. The bathing (Venice, collection Peggy Guggenheim), executed two days later, takes back the face - associated with another swimmer - holding a small sailboat.

L'histoire ne connaît guère d'artiste qui soit devenu le symbole de tout un siècle. C'est pourtant le cas de Pablo Picasso. Son nom et son oeuvre sont synonymes de l'art du 20ème siècle.
Déjà reconnu comme mythe de son vivant, Picasso se voit dédié à lui seul trois musées de par le monde : à Antibes, Barcelone et Paris.Si son oeuvre est devenue l'image même de l'art moderne, c'est que ses créations reflétaient la conception courante de l'essence de la modernité.
Le refus de la tradition et l'abolition de la reproduction de la forme naturelle d'une part, et de l'autre la création d'un monde de formes loin des schémas Pour la première fois dans l'histoire de l'art, une oeuvre n'est plus appréhendée par la seule raison. L'irrationnel, le supra-sensoriel sont devenus le premier fondement de la créativité et envers et contre tous ses détracteurs, connus et répétés depuis des décennies, caractérisent autant l'art moderne tout entier que l'oeuvre particulière de Picasso.

 

 

 

The history knows hardly artist who became the symbol of a whole century. It is nevertheless the case of Pablo Picasso. Its name and its work are synonymic of the art of the 20th century. 
Already recognized as myth in his lifetime, Picasso sees itself dedicated to him only three museums throughout the world : to Antibes, Barcelona and Paris.

If his work became the image of the modern art, it is because his creations reflected the current conception of the essence of the modernity. The refusal of the tradition and the abolition of the reproduction of the natural shape on one hand, and the other one the creation of a world of forms far from plans For the first time in the art history, a work is not any more dreaded by the only reason.The irrational, the above sensory became the first foundation of the creativity and in spite of everyone its détracteurs, known and repeated for decades, characterize as much the whole modern art as the particular work of Picasso.

 Ingrid Betancourt est enfin libre avec 14 autres otages ! Je suis heureuse d'avoir mené ce combat à titre personnel  comme tant d'autres ici ou ailleurs dans le monde. N'oublions pas, cependant, qu'il reste des otages et que la lutte doit continuer !

 

You should never abandon the fight for the freedom !  

 Ingrid Betancourt is finally free with 14 other hostages ! I am happy to have led this fight in a private capacity as so many others here or somewhere else in the world. Let us not forget, however, that there are hostages and that the fight has to continue.

Après deux mois de solidarité pour le Tibet, Ingrid Bétancourt et ses autres compagnons d'infortune, comme promis, je reprends le court normal de mes envies et découvertes du monde de l'Art sous toutes ses formes, tout en restant  solidaire et attentive à ces deux causes qui me tiennent particulièrement à coeur.

After two months of solidarity for the Tibet, Ingrid Bétancourt and his other companions in misfortune, as the betrothed, I take back the normal court of my envy and discoveries of the world of the Art under all its forms, while remaining united and attentive to these two causes which hold me particularly heart.

MON COUP DE COEUR DU MOIS : 

"L'immigré" de OUSMANE SOW

 

 

 

Cette oeuvre en bronze (hauteur 1m74/largeur 0,80/profondeur 1m15) représente un homme assis, très digne, en train de lire. « J'ai travaillé d'arrache pieds, pendant un mois pour faire cette statue avant de l'envoyer à la Fonderie Coubertin en France. J'ai voulu présenter un immigré digne à ceux qui ne voient pas l'apport positif et le côté magique de l'immigration » nous a confié Ousmane Sow. « L'oeuvre, ajoutera –t-il, est faite pour durer des siècles et des siècles ». « Ce n'est pas de l'art éphémère », renchérit le sculpteur sénégalais qui a senti le devoir de rendre aux travailleurs étrangers quel que soit leur statut leur dignité : « Oui, j'ai voulu une statue digne pas des gens écrasés. Je serai incapable de faire autrement. ». D'ailleurs, c'est ce que souhaitait l'écologiste, le Maire Patrice Mugny, ancien rédacteur en chef du « Courrier » de Genève, qui a placé son mandat autour du thème du « Vivre ensemble ». Le genevois dira d'Ousmane Sow : « C'est un très grand artiste. C'est génial. Il faut que le monde voit son oeuvre ».

Les mois précédents j'ai beaucoup parlé de couleurs qui ne me quittent jamais, car elles sont la clé de mon inspiration, mais ces jours-ci, j'ai  envie de vous présenter quelques animations et photos en noir et blanc que je trouve très belles et très travaillées, rendant un bel hommage au corps féminin .

Parce qu'hélas le Tibet subit toujours des horreurs, parce que d'autres otages des Farc ne sont toujours pas libérés : NOUS DEVONS CONTINUER DE LUTTER afin que cessent ces injustices.

 

MAIS SAVOURONS LA LIBERATION D'INGRID  et des 14 autres otages !!!

 

 

MY ANGER CONTINUES !!!

Because regrettably the Tibet always undergoes horrors, because the other hostages of the Farc are not still released : WE OWE TO CONTINUE TO FIGHT so that these injustices stop.
